What was your inspiration behind being a Pilates teacher?
Dana: Mat Pilates is not something I was passionate about in past years, but I have always prided myself on the fact that I have many fitness certifications. The desire to learn as much as possible about fitness and safety drew me to Pilates, especially Pilates Reformer. I've always been a cardio and cross training junkie, and that is what what I have loved most of my 23 years in fitness, but at my age (48), I now have a love for taking care of my body in a more gentle way.
What do you like the most about teaching at YTC?
Dana: I have been in management for the last 7 years and was at a place that I wanted to spend more time with my family, and doing the things in life that I love most which is making an impact on others in health and fitness. I decided to go back to owning my own business and teaching. YTC just happened to fall into my lap at the perfect time for me and I love it there.
What are your hobbies?
Dana: I have a Studio Art degree and I have always had a creative side. I love carpentry and building things, refinishing furniture and making something old look fresh and new again. And I enjoy spending time with family. My husband and I have four kids: Jessica (21), Jordan (20), Natalie (17), and Garrett, (15).
How do you stay fit and keep healthy?
Dana: I teach a variety of modalities every week—my favorites are Pilates Reformer and PiYo. Working out with my clients helps me stay strong!
What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
Dana: Most people don’t know that I lived overseas for 2 months when I was 22 years old as a Missionary and English teacher in Bangkok Thailand.
